The Artist, winner of five Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director is a heart swellingly and glorious movie about the movies.

A silent movie, screened in black and white and projected in the old-fashioned box Academy ratio The Artist sweeps us back into the late 1920s in Hollywood where handsome George Valentin is a silent movie idol. During the premiere of his latest film, Valentin meets Peppy Miller, a star-struck extra and aspiring actress. The two are attracted to each other and Peppy is given a small dancing role in his next picture. As their romance blossoms, Valentin's producer has to cope with a love-struck star who is distracted on the set but as Peppy's career begins to take off, Valentin fears that a new fad in the movie business, the talkies, will ruin him.

This witty and moving homage to the silent movie era is one of the most purely enjoyable movies in years. ***** - The Guardian

It doesn't take this captivating and steadily surprising movie very long to tickle your funny bone, take a piece of your heart and pull you in deep.... a total pleasure… outstanding – Rolling Stone

Simply irresistible. More than a skit, this a lively and lovable comedy that’s full of personality and charm.***** - Empire Magazine
